Another Triple Crown Horse? 05/07/2008
BIG BROWN lived up to expectations and overwhelmed his opponents in the Kentucky Derby. Now it looks like a strong possibility that we could see the first Triple Crown winner in 30 years.
In 1978 AFFIRMED and ALYDAR provided us with three wonderful races, with ALYDAR finishing second in the Derby, Preakness and Belmont by a combined margin of a length and a half.
In most other years ALYDAR would have been a Triple Crown winner, but in 1978 he had the bad luck of being a 3 year old the same year as AFFIRMED!
BIG BROWN's Derby win was bitter sweet, with the accident that cost the great filly EIGHT BELLES to be euthanized. All horse lover's are saddened by her death.

New pad to help with EquiPak 02/20/2008
Castle Plastic has introduced a very helpful pad to use with EquiPak, EquiBuild or other sole packing products. They call it the Pour Pad. It is a very thin pad that has a screening punched into the center. The result is secure placement of any of the materials used that set up on the bottom of the hoof. Local farriers like Mark Michelswirth report excellent results using this pad. more >>
